pentair
Your pool equipment determines how clean your water stays, how much your pool costs to run, and how often something needs repair. Pool Tech carries Pentair because it is reliable, efficient, and widely trusted by pool professionals.

Energy efficiency. Pentair pioneered variable speed pool pumps, and many of its pumps and heaters are built to meet Energy Star standards.

Integrated systems. Pentair pumps, heaters, sanitizers, and lights connect with Pentair automation, so the entire pool can be controlled from one panel or a smartphone.

Warranty coverage. Pentair backs its equipment with strong warranties, and pairing products from the same system can extend coverage.

Pool Pumps

The pump circulates water through the filter, heater, and sanitizer, and it is typically the largest energy user in a pool system. Variable speed pumps run at lower speeds for most of the day and increase speed only when needed. Compared to single-speed pumps, they use significantly less energy and operate more quietly.

Pumps for Standard Pools

Mid-range variable speed pumps built for most residential pools. They provide enough flow to support a heater, automatic cleaner, and sanitizer system.

Pumps for Feature-Rich Pools

Premium variable speed and flow pumps automatically adjust to maintain a set flow rate, even as the filter collects debris. They connect with automation and app control and are recommended for pools with spas, water features, or in-floor cleaning systems.

Above-Ground, Booster, and Water Feature Pumps

We also carry pumps for above-ground pools, pressure-side cleaners, and fountains or waterfalls. Bring the label or a photo of your current pump and we will find the correct replacement.

Pool Filtration & Cleaning

The filter removes debris and fine particles from the water as it circulates. There are three types of pool filters. The best choice depends on your pool size, the level of water clarity you want, and how much maintenance you prefer.

Cartridge Filters

Cleaning involves removing the cartridges and rinsing them with a hose. Larger multi-cartridge models offer more filter area and longer intervals between cleanings.

Sand Filters

Sand filters require the least maintenance. They are cleaned by backwashing, which reverses the water flow to flush out debris. Current designs filter finer particles than older sand filters, producing clearer water.

D.E. Filters

D.E. filters provide the finest filtration available. Grids coated with diatomaceous earth capture particles smaller than sand or cartridge filters can. They require more maintenance but deliver the highest water clarity.

Replacement Cartridges and Grids

We stock replacement cartridges, D.E. grids, and filter cleaners for Pentair and most other major filter brands. Bring in your current cartridge or grid and we will match it.

pool vacuum robots

Automatic Pool Cleaners

Automatic cleaners remove debris from the pool floor and walls without manual vacuuming. Each type is suited to different pools and debris.

Robotic Cleaners. Robotic cleaners operate independently with their own motor and filter, so they place no added load on your pump or filter. They clean the floor, walls, and steps. Higher-end models include remote control, scheduling, and advanced navigation.

Suction-Side Cleaners. Suction-side cleaners connect to the skimmer or a dedicated suction line and are powered by the pool pump. They are easy to install, cost-effective, and best for fine debris such as sand and silt.

Pressure-Side Cleaners. Pressure-side cleaners are designed for large debris such as leaves and acorns. They collect debris in a separate bag, which reduces the load on your pool filter.

pool heater

Pool Heating Solutions

A pool heater extends your swim season by allowing you to open earlier in the spring and close later in the fall. There are three types of pool heaters. The right choice depends on how quickly you need heat and your preferred operating cost.

Choosing a Heater: the right heater depends on your pool size, fuel availability, local utility rates, and how you use your pool. Our staff will recommend and size a heater based on your needs.

Gas Heaters

Gas heaters use natural gas or propane to heat water quickly in any weather. They are well suited for fast warm-ups, cooler spring and fall temperatures, and pools with attached spas. High-efficiency models transfer more energy into the water, which lowers operating costs.

Heat Pumps

Heat pumps transfer heat from the outside air into the pool water. They heat more slowly than gas heaters but cost significantly less to operate over a season. Heat pumps perform best when air temperatures are warm, making them a good fit for maintaining water temperature through the summer.

Hybrid Heaters

Hybrid heaters combine a heat pump and a gas heater in one unit. They operate as a heat pump in warm weather and switch to gas in colder conditions or when faster heating is needed. This flexibility works well in Iowa, where spring and fall temperatures vary widely.

Pool Water Treatment

Water treatment equipment automates sanitizing and chemical balancing, reducing the time you spend handling chemicals. Several of these systems can be used together.

Water Testing: regular testing is important even with automated equipment. Bring a water sample to our store and we will test it and recommend any adjustments.

Salt Chlorine Generators

A salt chlorine generator converts dissolved pool salt into chlorine as water passes through the cell. This eliminates the need to buy, store, and handle chlorine. Salt-treated water also feels softer and causes less skin and eye irritation.

Water Chemistry Controllers

A chemistry controller continuously monitors pH and sanitizer levels and automatically adds what the water needs. When paired with a salt chlorine generator and automation, it keeps water balanced with minimal intervention.

UV Sanitizers

UV sanitizers pass water through ultraviolet light to break down chloramines, the compounds responsible for chlorine odor and eye irritation. They use very little electricity and work alongside a chlorine or salt system.

Automatic Chlorine Feeders

An automatic feeder holds chlorine or bromine tablets and releases sanitizer into the water at a steady, adjustable rate. It is a simple, cost-effective way to maintain consistent sanitizer levels.

Pool Equipment FAQ

How do I know if my pool pump needs to be replaced?

Common signs include grinding or screeching noises, leaks near the motor, tripped breakers, and reduced water flow. In some cases a motor or seal replacement will resolve the issue. Our technicians can determine whether a repair or replacement is the better option.

Is a variable speed pump worth the cost?
For most pools, yes. Variable speed pumps cost more initially, but lower energy use typically offsets the difference over time. Rebates may also reduce the upfront cost.
Which type of filter is best?
Sand filters require the least maintenance, cartridge filters conserve water because they do not require backwashing, and D.E. filters provide the clearest water. Our staff can recommend the best option for your pool.
Should I choose a gas heater or a heat pump?
Gas heaters provide fast heating and perform well in cooler weather. Heat pumps cost less to operate but work best in warm temperatures. Hybrid heaters offer both capabilities in one unit.
Can a salt system be added to an existing pool?
In most cases, yes. We will review your current equipment and plumbing to confirm compatibility.
Does Pool Tech install the equipment it sells?
Yes. Our service team handles equipment installation and repairs, including part replacements on existing equipment.
